Awake Homeless Shelter Ministry
Every week, we minister to the men and women served by Awake Ministries in Shelbyville, KY (formerly Open Door of Hope and the Serenity Center).
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Re:Center Homeless Shelter Ministry
Several times each month, we bring the word of God and a meal to the men served by Re:Center Ministries in downtown Louisville (formerly Louisville Rescue Mission).
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek“
Women’s Titus 2 Breakfast
The women of the church (older and young) gather approximately six times a year for a time of fellowship over breakfast and a time of study and prayer over biblical issues specific to women.
“the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children“
Once A Month
Young Men’s Meetings
The young men gather about once a month to fellowship and have a short study, generally led by Pastor Derek. In the past, the young men have read and discussed J. C. Ryle’s Thoughts for Young Men and Greg Gilbert’s What Is the Gospel?
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word”
We regularly minister to the inmates, both men and women, of the Bullitt County Detention Center in Shepherdsville, KY. We have also started a library for the inmates consisting mainly of books that will help them know and love God.
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be”
2nd Sunday Of Every MOnth
We believe that God saves souls through the simple, faithful presentation of the gospel, especially in the preaching of His word (Romans 10:14, 17). Therefore, men and women of the church seek to share the gospel in various public spaces (usually around the abortion clinic and the Big Four Bridge). These evangelistic efforts include amplified preaching, impromptu conversations, and gospel resource distribution (tracts, books, and Bibles). The aim is not to judge, condemn, or promote ourselves, but to glorify God and invite all people to come to Christ and be saved.
“…For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me”
Our church members serve with a variety of other ministries and organizations, including Bridge Aftercare Ministries, Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary, Practical Shepherding, Kentucky Wounded Heroes, and crisis pregnancy centers in Louisville (BsideU For Life), Shelbyville (A Loving Choice), and Elizabethtown (Clarity Solutions).
